All,
The oxygen compressor is permanently out of service and all of the HFD
owned oxygen bottles have been removed from service and replaced with
Airgas bottles. We have a contract with Airgas who will now be
supplying all of our oxygen bottles; small D tanks and large main M
tanks.
We have decided to go with their bottles which include a built in
regulator for the D tanks. With these there is no valve to turn them
on or off, the black dial on the top of the stem will give up to 25lpm
out of the nipple which when full are covered by a black rubber piece.
For the quick connect whips on the stretchers, they can be threaded
easily onto the smaller connection on the side of the stem with the
small green cap as shown in the photos. When swapping tanks be sure to
leave the high pressure, quick connect whips with the truck that they
came from.
The pressure gauge will constantly be showing the bottle pressure. We
will have 2 spare Main M tanks at HQ, 2 spare small D tanks at Station
2, and 8 spare small D tanks at HQ. The mechanical spare will remain
full of oxygen, just be mindful when it goes into the annex to shut
the valve for the main tank off.
We will be calling airgas to inform them what we need to have
delivered for our delivery days. I will keep an eye on the supply for
the foreseeable future, for now if we use a main M tank please let me
know so it can be replaced. If we reach roughly half of our spare D
tanks please let me know. The storage rack will be labeled with half
the rack as full and half the rack as empty. We will see how this
flows for now.
Any questions please reach out to myself or Capt. Naiman.
Many thanks,
Ryan Pescaro
