All:

FYI regarding OEMS policy changes with the end of the state of
emergency.  As a department, we are no longer requiring masks within
the cabs of vehicles.  EMS providers shall follow the state guidelines
regarding PPE as they pertain to patient care settings and healthcare
facilities.  As always, if you have a suspected COVID-19 patient, wear
your PPE.

Thanks:

Chief Hall

Good Afternoon Region II EMS Colleagues,

I hope you’re all enjoying the restriction-free nice weather we’ve
been having!  As you may have seen or heard, or have been
anticipating, OEMS has issued some policy changes given the end of the
state of emergency.  I will summarize the changes from the emails
below for you.

   * ADVISORY 20-10-01: COVID-19 WORKPLACE SAFETY STANDARDS FOR
AMBULANCE SERVICES has been RESCINDED.  You no longer are required to
mask up outside of the clinical setting.  The clinical setting is the
back of the ambulance and anywhere outside of the ambulance where
you’re providing patient assessment and care.  Please refer to the
most recent version of DPH’S COMPREHENSIVE PPE GUIDANCE attached.

   * THE EMERGENCY COVID-19 RELATED PROTOCOLS HAVE BEEN RESCINDED
(excluding vaccinations by EMS providers … for now)

   * THE TRAINING AND RECERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS HAVE RETURNED TO
“NORMAL.”  In particular, the 1/3 cap on distributive education has
returned.  There are three training/recert AR’s attached.  As always,
PAY THE CLOSEST ATTENTION TO 2-212.

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns!
We’re happy to help.

   Respectfully,

   Nick DaDalt
