Please see the below clarification from the Region for those EMTs with  
EMT expiration dates of 4/1/2021. Any questions, please let me know.

   Good Afternoon Region II EMS Colleagues,

   On Monday, many EMS providers received the information below  
concerning a certification extension to 6/30/21 for those with  
previous extensions expiring in 2020, and those expiring on 3/31/21.   
Please be advised the extension ONLY APPLIES TO “STEP B,”  which is  
the MA OEMS/DPH component to your recertification. 

   Should you wish to maintain your certification past the MA OEMS  
extension, you MUST complete your continuing education requirements  
and recert application via NREMT.org (“STEP A”) by MARCH 31, 2021 (or  
for 2020 expirations, by June 30, 2020).  If STEP A is not completed  
on-time, you would need to obtain National Registry Certification by a  
full psychomotor exam and skills verification in order to keep your  
certification past the MA extension date. 

   To keep it simple:  complete your continuing education and recert  
application on NREMT.org as you normally would unless you want a much  
more complicated process to retain your certification past June 30,  
2021.

   Folks,

   Happy holiday season!

   On Friday, the Governor extended his ordered extension to EMT  
certification expirations, and we’ve now sent emails to everyone  
expiring in either 2020 or 2021.

   In short, all certifications have been EXTENDED TO 6/30/2021,  
however the con-ed deadlines remain in place (are not changing). All  
the details can be found (and shared) at  
https://www.mass.gov/how-to/renew-your-emt-advanced-emt-or-paramedic-certification and https://www.mass.gov/guides/covid-19-and-ma-ems-certification (note, we are expecting updates to post to both pages by COB  
today).

   For 2020 expiring EMTs:

   *    Education and training profile submission/approval (Step A)  
still must have been completed by June 30, 2020.

     *      EMTs may continue operating until JUNE 30, 2021

     *      If Step A was completed in time, and NREMT.org indicates a  
3/31/2022 expiration, EMTs should check eLicensing to see if they have  
renewed. If they have _not completed Step B, THEY SHOULD EMAIL  
OEMS.RECERT at MASS.GOV, _and we will send them a paper recertification  
application.

     *      If Step A was NOT completed in time, EMTs must obtain NR  
in order to renew/practice after June 2021. They can do so by:

       *        Submitting an application on nremt.org (for re-entry,  
based on _current_ state license.

       *        They will need to submit documentation of education  
(NCCP), then complete a cognitive exam, and psychomotor.

         *          Folks in this situation do not need to complete a  
full psychomotor, rather, they can take a skills verification. The  
Skills Verification is available until June 30, 2021. After that, they  
should follow the reinstatement instructions, at  
https://www.mass.gov/service-details/reinstate-your-expired-emt-certification.

       *        Once complete, the EMTs can submit a (paper) initial  
application to OEMS.

   For 2021 expiring EMTs:

   *    Education and training profile submission/approval (Step A)  
must be completed by MARCH 31, 2021.

     *      EMTs may continue operating until JUNE 30, 2021.

     *      If EMTs do not complete Step A by March 31, they should  
obtain NR, as above.

   *    EMTs may continue submitting Step B, up until June 30, 2021.

SHOWS 2022 ON _THE ELICENSING_ WEBSITE, KINDLY DISREGARD THIS  
REMINDER.**

   THIS MESSAGE IS FOR EMTS WHOSE CERTIFICATION WAS SET TO EXPIRE  
APRIL 1, 2020, AND MAY NOT BE APPLICABLE TO OTHERS.

   DECEMBER 2020

   In accordance with Governor Charles D. Baker’s Order #41, EMT  
certifications due to expire April 1, 2020 are being extended to June  
30, 2021.

   THEREFORE, YOUR EMT CERTIFICATION WHICH WAS SET TO EXPIRE APRIL 1,  
2020 AND HAS NOT RENEWED _HAS BEEN EXTENDED_ TO JUNE 30, 2021.

   _YOU CAN CONTINUE TO OPERATE AS AN EMT UNTIL THAT DATE,_ HOWEVER  
after June 30, 2021, if you have not recertified your MA EMS  
Certification, your certification will be considered expired and YOU  
WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAFF AN AMBULANCE.

   In order to renew your certification, you must have completed and  
submitted your continuing education by June 30, _2020_. If you DID  
NOT, you are not eligible to recertify, and will need to (re)gain  
National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) certification in order to maintain  
your MA EMS certification.

   ·         In order to (re)gain NREMT certification with a current  
state EMS certification, you must first obtain current NREMT  
certification. Please visit the reinstatement page for complete  
instructions on how to (re)gain NREMT certification using your current  
state certification, at  
https://www.mass.gov/service-details/reinstate-your-expired-emt-certification.  

   If you have completed your continuing education and training  
profile requirement (Step A) before the June 30, _2020_ deadline, but  
have not completed the state application and $125 fee (Step B), please  
contact our office for instructions on how to submit your state  
application by emailing oems.recert at mass.gov. This is for individuals  
whose dashboard on their NREMT.org profile displays a March 31, 2022  
expiration date, but their MA EMS certification still shows April 1,  
2020 on _the eLicensing_ website at
