The 20th anniversary memorial for the Worcester Cold Storage Fire will be held Tuesday 12/3 at 18:00 hrs.  WFD requests that out of town departments arrive by 17:00 hrs, uniform of the day is Class A.  Honor guards are asked to contact District Chief Fleischer if they are going to attend. Could you please get this off to your districts and someone please forward it to an FCAM mailing list?  I included a number of you considering some of you may be taking a long weekend.

December 3rd, 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the Worcester Cold Storage Fire when 6 Worcester Firefighters were killed in the line of duty. To preserve the memory of Lt. Thomas Spencer, Lt. Timothy Jackson Sr., Lt. James Lyons III, and firefighters Jeremiah Lucey, Paul Brotherton and Joseph McGuirk, the Worcester Fire Department  will be holding a 20th anniversary memorial ceremony at the Franklin Street Fire Station, 266 Franklin St, on December 3rd, 2019 at 1800hrs.

In addition, there will be a “Pop-Up”  “Worcester 6 Tribute Exhibit” inside the main hall of Union Station.  The exhibit tells the timeline and story of that tragic day and the weeks to follow.  It’s a great please to reflect or learn more about the Cold Storage Fire.

Out of town Fire Department members wishing to attend are asked to arrive by 1700hrs in dress uniform.  Firefighters will be asked to line both sides of the marching route from Union Station to the Franklin St Station.  Any out of town Color Guards that would like to attend are requested to RSVP the District Chief Gary Fleischer via E-Mail at; Fleischerg at worcesterma.gov . to receive further information. 

We expect traffic delays into the city and around the site, roads will close at 1730hrs, please leave plenty of time to arrive and car pool or take public transportation if possible.  The Worcester Line of the commuter rail stops at Union Station where the procession will begin.  There are a few surface parking lots and a parking garage that serve Union Station.  There will be reserved parking for buses on Franklin St on the East side of the Fire Station.
