All:

After losing a speedlay line on Engine 3 last night while responding to
a call, a couple of reminders and safety precautions to keep in mind:

 1. Please make sure that the hose covers are on the truck and secured
appropriately, this includes speedlays, crosslays and LDH covers.
Trucks that are not equipped with the covers we plan to retrofit.
 2. When doing truck checks or maintenance on the vehicles, please make
sure that all hose lines are securely in their bed and ensure that
the nozzle is not loose, on the edge or hanging out on hand lines
and the LDH is packed appropriately.
 3. When driving the vehicles, be sure to check your mirrors often to
keep a view of what is happening behind and on the sides of the
    vehicle.
 4. Both the driver operator and the officer should do a quick check of
the side of the apparatus they are on prior to getting in to ensure
everything is secure and nothing looks out of place.

Thankfully, this incident did not cause any injury to anyone outside of
the vehicle but when hose becomes loose and is dragging behind a vehicle
with a nozzle, it is a projectile and is extremely dangerous.
