Richard "Dick" Farrar (1946 - 2016) - January 30, 2016 Venice, FL - 
Richard ("Dick") Arthur Farrar, 69, passed away on January 30, 2016, in 
Venice, FL. with his family by his side. Beloved husband and best friend 
of 37 years to Deborah (Bowman), loving father to three sons and a 
daughter - Kevin R. (wife, Eve), Tracy L. Grimes, Marc J. and Joshua S. 
(wife, Tricia). Adoring grandfather to Kelly, Hunter, Anika and Grady. 
He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur L. and Inez M. Farrar. 
Dear uncle, brother-in-law and friend to so many others. Dick grew up 
and lived in Auburn, ME where he attended Edward Little High School and 
held a number of jobs including driving for Pepsi and Plant Supervisor 
at Hillcrest, he was also on the Ski Patrol at Lost Valley and the Flag 
Man at Oxford Plains Speedway. In 1978 he married Deb and they later 
moved to Sterling, MA and became proud owners of Farrar Duck Farm. Dick 
volunteered with the Sterling EMS for 32 years and Sterling Fire 
Department for 30 years, reaching the rank of Deputy Chief at 
retirement. He also was part owner of Coastal Racing Association which 
ran four racetracks around New England. Dick received an Associate's 
degree in Fire Science and worked for the Massachusetts Fire Academy as 
Deputy Director of Facilities & Operations until retirement. Dick and 
Deb enjoyed many years of travel and adventure, with Aruba being their 
favorite destination.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to Sterling Fire 
Department, P.O. Box 21, Sterling, MA 01564, or to American Cancer 
American Cancer Society https://donate.cancer.org/index
A Memorial Service will be held in Sterling, MA at a later date –
