FYI. Please pass the word to others on your crews.
This just reinforces the need for PPE during overhaul!

As many of you know, four of our members that fought the fire in
Princeton yesterday sought medical attention at Clinton Hospital
yesterday afternoon based on symptoms they were experiencing including;
CO readings from the Massimo, high heart rate, and high blood pressure.
All were given EKG's, lab work was drawn to measure carboxyhemoglobin,
and they were placed on high-flow oxygen for several hours to counter
the symptoms. All four were treated and released from the hospital once
all vitals, readings, and blood tests were normal.
At this time the diagnosis was CO exposure and dehydration. We strongly
questioned the potential of HcN poisoning however the doctor was not
convinced and did not do lab work to substantiate that theory. The crew
worked on air during fire attack and did some exterior overhaul work off
of air, nothing out of the ordinary of what we typically do.
Everyone is doing well today and thanks for those who came in yesterday
afternoon to cover for them.
Be safe!
