[HFDlist] Winter Conditions Awareness

Good Afternoon-

Few points regarding the current conditions-

With the large snow banks around roads/ intersections, use extreme caution driving apparatus/ ambulances. Make sure to take corners wide and this is not the time of year to ride the gutter. Remember there are hidden items in the snow banks (Rocks, mailbox's, Posts) that don't move when you hit them!
  *
Leave apparatus/ ambulances in the roadway when practical. Don't be afraid to request HPD to assist with traffic control if needed. It is safer to carry a patient an extra 50 ft than get a truck struck in a driveway or damaging vehicles, both of which don't do any good for the patient.
  *
Use parking lots/ intersections to turn around. Avoid turning around in driveways.
  *
We understand that driving in these conditions is not ideal. If you do have an incident, please check for any damage and report it according to Department policy. Hiding damage or ignoring it only makes it worse.
  *
The Town is working to improve roadway conditions as well as clear hydrants. We can all do our part. If you are staged at an incident or after clearing, take a few extra minutes to shovel out the nearest hydrant; this only benefits us.
