Please see updated 1.2 Statewide Treatment Protocol. We will not be  
partaking in the BLS supraglottic airway section at this time, but we  
do have in-line filters for the BVMs. Any questions, please see me.

   I hope this message finds you all well.  I am forwarding a  
notification from OEMS with regard to an Emergency Protocol Change for  
the COVID-19 Protocol 1.2.  Please take note of items H and I in the  
attached protocol which allow for the placement of supraglottic  
airways by BLS providers (with AHMD approval, training, and 100% QI);  
and the required use of in-line filters on BVM’s where supplies are  
available.

   Dear EMS Colleagues,

   The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) continues to  
work with state, federal and local partners on the outbreak of novel  
Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2, and we  
continue to appreciate the essential role you have in responding to  
this evolving situation. 

   In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, OEMS is releasing the  
attached document:

   *    Updated Emergency Statewide Treatment Protocol (sections h.  
and i. are added in this update), to now include placement of  
supraglottic airways by BLS providers in cardiac arrest scenarios.  
In-line filter use is mandatory unless supply shortages exist.
