The Massachusetts Fire Academy

currently has openings in the *Flashover Simulator Training Program* on 
April 29, 2017,at the West Bridgewater Fire Department.  This 1-day 
flashover recognition course introduces the warning signs of imminent 
flashover to firefighters conducting interior fire attack. The class 
begins with a 2-1/2-hour lecture on the characteristics of flashover 
followed by another two and a half hours of live fire evolutions inside 
the Swede flashover simulator and is limited to 24 students. Students 
will be required to sign a safety guidelines and precaution document and 
are required to bring NFPA Compliant Protective Clothing consisting of 
helmet, hood, coat, gloves, and bunker gear. Advanced hydration is 
required.

Your application needs to have the one of the following prerequisites 
attached:

Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Career Recruit Program,

Massachusetts Firefighting Academy Call / Volunteer Firefighting 
Training Program,

Structural Firefighting Practices,

or the student must be certified to Firefighter I.

We also have openings in the *Emergency Vehicle Operator – Advanced 
Program* on May 20 and 21, 2017, at the Southampton Fire Department .The 
objective of this program is to introduce the student to current motor 
vehicle laws, NFPA standard, common driver mistakes, vehicle inspection, 
and methods to prevent accidents with regards to Emergency Vehicle 
Operation. This two-day program contains a one-day competency course 
that the student must take. It is recommended that the student already 
have some Emergency Vehicle Driving experience before taking this program.
