Three children were struck by a vehicle driven by New Brunswick Fire Director Robert Rawls as they crossed Livingston Avenue near Delevan Street, according to New Brunswick police.

UPDATE: Three kids listed in fair condition this morning.

NEW BRUNSWICK - Three children were struck by an SUV driven by New Brunswick Fire Director Robert Rawls as they crossed Livingston Avenue near Delevan Street, according to New Brunswick police.

All three juveniles, which were reported to be two 14-year-old girls and a six-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries and were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.

Rawls remained on scene after the accident and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

He was appointed in 2006 and makes more than $150,000 a year.

The New Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the New Brunswick Police Department at(732) 745-5005 or the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3000
