Would putting sprinklers in this newer construction have prevented this? 

   I'm not quite sure what putting a hole in that section of roof would accomplish except to spread the fire if that space is connected to the remainder of the structure.   This video is a prime example of why we need to remember and be proficient in the basics. Thank you to the training staff of the Department for recognizing that emphasizing the basics in our training will enhance new skills we learn along the way and keep us safe from injury.
