        VCOS Board, Instructors, Members, and Friends,

        Chairman Wall has requested your help to spread the word about
        VCOS scholarships and awards for the Symposium in the Sun.  Send
        this information to your contacts, post on social media, etc.
        We’d like to get more applications and generate some more
        interest.  An e-blast will be going out soon to past Symposium
        attendees and VCOS members as well.

        *Scholarships*

        ·*VCOS Scholarships*to the Symposium in the Sun: (2) winners
        will be chosen and will receive $1,500 to attend the Symposium
        in the Sun Nov 6-9 in Clearwater Beach, FL.

        ·*Emerging Leader Scholarship*sponsored by Gasaway Consulting
        Group: Winner will receive $1,500 towards travel expenses and
        registration for the Symposium in the Sun.

        ·All scholarship applications are due *Aug. 1*. More information

        *Awards*

        ·The *John M. Buckman III Award*, sponsored by Provident
        Insurance, is given to a chief officer of a volunteer or
        combination department who demonstrates exemplary leadership,

        ·The *Emergency Vehicle Safe Operations Achievement Award*,
        sponsored by VFIS, recognizes an emergency service organization
        that has experienced a significant and verifiable reduction in
        or zero collisions/incidents/crashes during the period June 1,

        ·The *Retention and Recruitment Award*, sponsored by VFIS,
        recognizes success and excellence in the retention and
