Holden Fire Explorers’ Recycling Events, Saturday, Oct. 29 
The Holden Fire Explorers Post 2012 will host two recycling events
tomorrow, Saturday, October 29. Electronic appliances will be collected
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the former Holden Police Station, located across
the street from Wachusett Regional High School. The Explorers will be
collecting bottles and cans, also, from 9 a.m. to noon at the former
Holden Fire Station, located next to the new Public Safety Facility on
Main Street. Proceeds will benefit the Explorers. For more information

National Prescription Drug Take-Back, Saturday, Oct. 29
The Holden Police Department is participating in the third National
Prescription Drug Take-Back 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, October 29 at the
Holden Public Safety Facility, 1370 Main Street. A medication drop-off box
will be located in the lobby. All drop-offs are anonymous and no paperwork
will be necessary. Needles and Epi-pens will not be accepted. Names and
labels may be removed from the packaging. All liquid medications should be
in sealed containers. Please call the Holden Police Department at (508)

DPW Fall Composting Event, Saturday, Oct. 29
A Department of Public Works fall composting event will be held from 8
a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 29. Leaves and grass clippings will
be accepted at the Composting Facility, located at the former landfill at
560 River Street. Brush chipping will be done at the Adams Road garage
only, due to the Asian Longhorned Beetle regulated area. These events are

Trick-or-Treating Hours
Halloween Trick-or-Treating hours are from 4-7:30 p.m., Monday, October 31.

Tax Bills Due Tuesday, November 1
The Tax Collector’s office reminds taxpayers that the second quarter
payment of their fiscal 2012 real estate tax bill is due Tuesday, November

Holden Police Offering RAD Self-Defense Classes 
The Holden Police Department is offering a weekly self-defense Rape
Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course starting Wednesday, November 9. The
class, led by Sgt. Timothy Sherblom, will run on Wednesday nights from 6-8
p.m. and costs $20. The class is open to women ages 14 and up. Space is
available, but slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
