congratulate all of
our EMS providers on the EMS Silver Plus award from the American
Heart
Association in recognition of the departments STEMI and Stroke
care.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>I am proud to work
alongside such a group of
EMS professionals who work hard to ensure that our citizens
receive the highest
level of pre-hospital care possible.<span
style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>I
have been lucky to be involved with our EMS service since its
start and to see
how it has grown is inspiring.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>What
awards like this come down to are the people in the field who
are assessing and
treating patients 365 days a year.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">
</span>We
are extremely lucky as a department to have such experienced
providers who not
only operate at a high level individually but who work so well
as a team which
ensures great patient care and more positive patient outcomes.
Our EMS
Coordinators past and present such as Dave Russo and now Ethan
Naiman have
worked hard to keep our EMS service on the cutting edge of
pre-hospital care
and I thank them for that.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Congratulations

I wanted to take a moment to share an exciting accomplishment
for the department. This year we were awarded an EMS Silver Plus
award from the American Heart Association in recognition of the
departments STEMI and Stroke care. The AHA looks a variety of
metrics compiled from our documentation of Stroke and STEMI, for
example; patient contact to 12 lead time; percentage of 35+ year
old patients with chest pain receiving a 12 lead; door to
balloon time; and stroke notification and documentation
criteria. <br>
<br>
This is the highest level of recognition we have received from
the AHA to-date and would not be possible without the hard work
and dedication of our EMS crews. As always, but especially
during EMS week, thank you for all that you do.<br>
<br>
A formal certificate will be provided at a later date and will
posted in the station.<br>
